Though the ‘ban’ is still in the text of Texas’ constitution it’s never been used to challenge someone seeking office on religious grounds in the state and would be struck down in higher courts as it is in direct contradiction with the U.S. Constitution (and it’s own text) just as similar cases have been in some of the six other states.
